Mike and Sherri W. of Machesney Park, IL gave My-Pros a call when an existing roof leak caused the drywall in their kitchen ceiling to collapse. We knew that before we could proceed with repairing the roof, we needed to recommend a professional mitigation company to completely dry the home. By getting the inside of the property professionally dried, the homeowners can be sure that they will not run into any future microbial issues caused by dampness inside the insulation and drywall. The leak was caused by ponding on top of the flat roof, which was aged and damaged and allowed water to flow into the drywall.
We knew we needed to do an emergency tarping since the weather was not in Mike and Sherri's favor. Our crew took the unique challenge of keeping water out from underneath a flat tarp and helped keep the inside of the home as dry as possible during the rain. Once the weather was more suited for roofing and the home was dried by the water mitigation company, our crew got to work tearing off the existing roof. They replaced the rotten plywood as well as the chimney framing. Our team then installed a torch down two-ply modified bitumen roof. We then repaired the drywall inside of the kitchen as well as opening up the ceiling in the living room so that the homeowner could install a ceiling fan. This took our crew two days to tear off, replace the roof, and clean up.
