Is a roof leak an emergency? A roof leak is always a major problem, but sometimes you have some time before it becomes serious. However, it is always best to have the leak repaired as soon as possible before it causes serious damage and becomes an emergency. Mike and Sherri W. of Machesney Park, IL had the misfortune of experiencing the latter problem when an existing roof leak caused the drywall in their kitchen ceiling to collapse.
Mike and Sherri immediately knew they'd need the assistance of an experienced roofing contractor and called My-Pros right away. We immediately placed emergency tarping on top of the flat roof in order to keep water away from the leaks. Once the rain stopped and the immediate threat was dealt with, we recommended a mitigation company to dry their property before the roof replacement.
After the home was dried we started our roof replacement by tearing off the existing roof. Much of the plywood was rotted so we replaced this plywood and the chimney framing as well. We then installed a torch down two-ply modified bitumen roof. and repaired the drywall inside of the kitchen as well as opening up the ceiling in the living room so that the homeowner could install a ceiling fan. It took our crew only two days to perform the roof replacement and clean up. Now Mike and Sherri can enjoy the protection of a durable replacement flat roof.
